[EventCalendar] items JUST for calendar display

Thanks for the feedback. Dr. Troxler's reply is promising as it is for
just "the odd" listing" rather than changing the universal setting.

 From what you suggest,

if I create some category or tag, X

and add some statement to "the loop"

then if I create a calendar listing and select X as its category

and have properly edited the loop then the specific item would only
appear in the calendar and not as a post.

Is there any documentation on what that snippet of code should look
like?

for the odd item I'd use a specific category (or tag) and exclude
posts with that tag everywhere except when showing the calendar and
upcoming events by adding an if statement to the loop.
