[EventCalendar] Upgrade gone bad

Thanks Peter, I'm able to create new events now.

Anyone have any ideas on using HTML in TITLE?  Is that the newer version
of WordPress causing that, or a change in EventCalendar?

this is default EC behaviour.  as soon as you add a EC entry (date/ 
time) through the section in your edit post screen, the category will  
be selectes, as per http://wpcal.firetree.net/how-to-make-a-new-event/
