Okay, I've implemented the basic full-size calendar here:

Still extremely primitive. There's only one event in the calendar.  
You need to go back to September to see it, and you'll see the first  
problem:

The name of the event has an ampersand (&) in it, and the ec3 code  
does a "double htmlspecialchars" on it, so the ampersand is expressed  
as "&".

Good job! Thanks for this very useful patch, and I hope that Alex  
Tingle submits it to the core, as it drastically increases the power  
of this already excellent plugin.
