[EventCalendar] ec3_get_events() not translating ampersands into character entities

The ampersands, single quotes,  extended characters have been inserted
into the titles of various posts by the author of this particular
wordpress. This is not something that I can easily control, not to
mention that one should be free to use these characters in post titles
in wp.

What I find really strange is that the fix for ec3_get_events() has
resolved this well but does not extend to include  ec3_get_calendar()
too.

Is it at all possible that wp itself might be stripping away the
semicolons? Has anyone else encountered these same errors?
