[EventCalendar] previous and future months are not displaying

running wp2.0.11 ec3.1.0

While working on trying to get the page to validate, I suddenly
noticed that the previous and future months display nothing at all on
the calendar and the spinner image just spins around.

Searching revealed  the following

Unfortunately, implementing the change does not work.

I also looked in

I do not think that it is another plugin that is causing this error.
Could it possibly be  the changes I have been making to try to get the
page to validate in the thread entitled, "ec3_get_events() not
translating ampersands into character entities"?
