[EventCalendar] Event calendar widget - month links

I am noticing some unusual behavior with the Event Calendar widget - 
the month view the ability to go to previous and next months.

Sometimes when you select a month the URL looks like this - m=YYYYMM 
and sometimes the URL looks like year=YYYY&monthnum=MM (I think after 
going to a new month, the 2nd format is used, added by the JS).

Is there a reason for the difference?

PS Also, is there a list of sites using the plug so that it is easy to 
compare setting and to see if my implementation is working like others? 
I do not need to see every site using the plug in, just a few 
representative samples. I did not see something here -

on the list and already being a pain in the ....
