[EventCalendar] worldwide use of the calendar (timezone for each event)

just my 2p ... (i'm not really a developper, just a big mouth with  
some conceptual understanding) why dont you set your blog to UTC and  
calculate the time zone on the fly by using the location, i.e.  
effecitvely adding TZ information to the event, since you'll already  
have to deal with location information anyway?
