[EventCalendar] how to handle ongoing events

I apologize in advance if this has already been covered... I'm seeking a way
to handle events that are ongoing, either permanently, or long-term (for a
year or more), without having to create new entries on a monthly (etc)
basis. If the event occurs, say on a tuesday night, and will occur every
tuesday night for the next year, is there a way to write the details for
this event once, and have it repeated programmatically?
