Rob - that makes sense - I don't think there is another way to do
what you suggest. I don't use the "Redirectify" plugin, but I do use
the "Page Links To" plugin (http://txfx.net/code/wordpress/page-links-
to/) to do a similar thing with other kinds of pages, but never
thought to use it to make a navigation link to the events page - nice
to hear that it works for that too.
