[EventCalendar] Day name in event list

I wondering if there is a way to display the name of the day along  
with the date in the event list, which is called by the <?php  
ec3_get_events(5); ?> function.

Currently, it displays something like:

2 January:
   First event.
5 January:
   Second event.
   Third event.
14 February:
   Fourth event.

I would prefer

Tuesday 2 January:
   First event.
Friday 5 January:
   Second event.
   Third event.
Wednesday 14 February:
   Fourth event.

I looked at this page: http://wpcal.firetree.net/template-functions/ 
ec3_get_events

But I didn't see any options for adding the name of the day.
