[EventCalendar] OffTopic: where to learn to create a WP plugin?

The Wordpress Codex is an excellent starting point:
  http://codex.wordpress.org/

And then just down load a few simple plugins and READ them. Do start
with simple ones, though. EventCalendar is too complicated to be much
good for learners.
