[EventCalendar] Categories to post by Start Date?

if your friend is familiar with wordpress: there is a wordpress hook  
posts_orderby which you could use writing your own plugin i.e.  
without hacking anything else (http://wphooks.flatearth.org/hooks/ 
posts_orderby/)
(this is actually the hook ec uses as well in eventcalendar3.php)
