[EventCalendar] Problem with duplicate entries in database, caused by EC?

I'm running EC 3.1.0 and WP 2.1.3. I've narrowed a problem down to
apparently EC. When I run a search on the web site, say for the word "coyle"
(a town in Washington), it returns duplicate, sometimes more than two, of
the same post entry. The db does *not* have two or more posts on it. Having
trolled the WP support forums I stumbled on the issue that it might be a
plug in. I turned off plug ins one by one, and EC was the one causing the
problem. You can easily reproduce the problem yourself by doing a search in
the db from the front page search box.

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix? If not, I'll have to change event
calendars,  or remove it (bad idea since it's a core function of my site) .

I assume I'm not the first to find this.
