[EventCalendar] event belongs to the post category

You can put the event into OTHER categories as well as the Event  
category, you know.

Separate calendars per category is on the TODO list. But you'll have  
to wait for a future release (or code it yourself, of course). You  
can still add advanced queries to category queries, so...

   ?cat=2&ec3_after=today

That won't work in quite the way you want, but it's a start. Read the  
documentation for more info.
