[EventCalendar] Calendar Event Category Is Grayed Out

I have installed the latest version but when I try to enter an event the 
category I have designated (Calendar) is grayed out and I cannot select 
it. I have installed the sidebar widgets and my previous calendar events 
that were entered before I updated EventCalendar are there I just cannot 
add new ones. I tried deactivating plugins one by one but it has made no 
difference.

If I change the event category and then select Calendar and then change 
the category back I can make it stick.

Any ideas?
