Thanks for responding so quickly.  I first found out about ec3 from the
following post:

In there they (Micki) talked about getting ec3 to look like:
http://www.writingsalons.com/classes/index-12.php

I see that the latest ec3 includes the changes mentioned in the post.  I
just cannot seem to make it work like it was mentioned.
